The Irish Boxer Dog Club was founded in 1943 and is the second oldest Boxer Breed Club in the UK. We hold a Championship Show each year in conjunction with Belfast Dog Show Society in September, thus allowing exhibitors to compete for two CC's over the one weekend. With the health of the breed being a primary concern, the club has endeavoured. The proportional mortality due to old age was lower than that reported in a survey conducted by the Danish Kennel Club (20.8%) and an earlier UK study comprising UK Kennel Club registered dogs (17.8%) . The Danish study also reported a higher frequency cause of death due to cancer (14.5%) than the current study.
